In a quiet corner of Mlimba, Malawi, a group of children stands together and sing:
“Drop of Compassio have developed this beautiful country called Malawi.
There was no school here at Ntwera,
A beautiful school we have, let us go again!”
The poem fills the air with hope, a sound that captures the heart of we stand for. This is the manifestation of the hard work Drop of Compassion are always working towards. Behind their smiles and happiness lies a story of change, resilience and the power of community coming together for something greater.
From an Empty Field to a Centre of Learning
Once upon a time, the village of Ntwera in Mimba had not school. The Children had to walk miles to reach the nearest school, which led to many of the children not attending any school. Dreams of learning and growing often perished and replaced by daily chores and other survival needs.
Now, those children walk just a few minutes to reach their new primary school, built through the support of Drop of Compassion’s hard work. Once an empty field has now become beacon of opportunity, a primary school with classrooms, a Masjid, Madressa, Imam house and staff accommodation.
This transformation did not happen overnight. It is the result of years of dedication, planning, hard work and partnership. The key partnership which made this project a success are the kind-hearted business group from Obstrat. They have supported this amazing project and walked the journey with us every step of the way.
A Message from the Director
During a recent visit to Mlimba, our Director Irfan reflected on the journey so far:
We have been working in Mangochi district for several years, supported by an incredible group of businesses from Obstrat. Together, we have built a Masjid, a Madressa, Imam house, and nearing completion of a primary school and staff quarters. This is more than a simple construction; it’s about giving the children a future. They will resort dignity to communities and build hope in an area where it seemed impossible.
These words remind us that the heart of charity lies not only in what we build, rather in the lives we touch and make a lasting impact.
Education with Purpose
In rural areas of Malawi, access to education remains one of the biggest challenges. They are often left behind because of the limited facilities and resources available to them. This is changing with the efforts of Drop of Compassion. Every classroom we built is going to serve as doorway and a space where children and dream bigger, learn with dignity and grow individually as well the community.
The Madressa will help nurture the spiritual and moral development of the youth helping them stay connected to their values and faith. The combination of school and Madressa gives children not only knowledge, but a foundation of purpose and belonging.
